Ovarian cysts are relatively common and the vast majority in younger women will resolve without any intervention. Identifying whether a cyst can be safely left to see if it resolves, or whether it is unlikely to resolve, and needs action, and rapidly identifying those cysts which require urgent action as they may represent something more sinister is crucial.
Ultrasound scanning at the same appointment for ovarian cysts is available by prior arrangement for some of our consultations. We also offer keyhole treatment for ovarian cysts wherever this is indicated, and these procedures are usually undertaken as daycase surgery.
Where a cyst is thought to have more worrying features, we offer rapid surgical removal, and treatment as appropriate.
